3D Bly-ray prototype
- The Blu-ray Disc format, with its high capacity and pristine picture quality, is the best carrier for the 3D experience in the home.
- Once movies start to become available in 3D on Blu-ray, consumer demand will naturally increase.
- Therefore Philips is actively participating in the 3D specification work of the BDA
3D Cinema 21:9 prototype
- A possible future direction for totally immersive cinematic viewing.
- We have been evaluating all potential 3D TV technologies as part of ongoing research and development for some time.
- No immediate plans to launch any commercial 3D TV products in the short term this will depend on 3D TV standards.
- We modified a ‘normal’ Cinema 21:9 set with updated firmware and by adding a micro polarizing lens to the screen.
- Wear passive polarized glasses to view the extra depth of specially prepared Stereoscopic 3D content.
For Philips, the most important decisions surrounding 3DTV involve the consumer, content availability and technology developments.
